Hackney Input in Coloureds

Clients often question the Hackney input in our coloureds. This is answered well in an article that I read in 'Horse and Hound', saying that over the years, warmblood stock have been mixed with TB blood to refine and develop the types. The use of TB in continental breeding strategies has been recognised since the 1800s when the German stud, Celle, stood 52 British stallions from 1830 to 1889.

Other British breeds such as Cleveland Bay, Yorkshire Carriage Horse and the Norfolk Trotter (forefather to the Hackney) have been used to enhance quality and presence.
